Creating the cover
In addition to the previous comments on my cover I always have additional information that can add to the process . When it came to drawing each part of the magazine out i decided that a traditional approach would suit my magazine better due to the fact that that as a high school student I am not very well versed in creating any type of magazine. Because of that I believed that a traditional approach would be appropriate So first I added a simple masthead across the top with big bold letters in a Franklin Gothic font. The reason for the font is a bit random as I just went through the prolific amount of fonts that Photoshop has to offer until I finally came up with this font that could show my title which is "Financial Affairs" good enough. Some fonts were too small or could not show my title as well so a lot of trial and error was used until i chose that font that I was satisfied with.
Also there were many other decisions that went into this beautiful and sophisticated cover. Whenever I visit a fancy restaurant I would always take notice of the fancy fonts that were used in the menus. Usually these the items in the menus are written in a cursive font. I believe that a cursive font adds a touch of lavishness to the magazine since not everyone has the type of handwriting that could resemble the type I used in my magazine. the font chosen was "Brush Script" Again as before it was an issue of trial and error when choosing this font as well. Many other fonts were either too hard to see or were just too hard to understand. But the font that I chose was just good enough. The sentence that I used and saved for that font was 'Invest in a better lifestyle". whenever I would go through any money magazine I would notice that each magazine that had to do with money would have a little tag line that would grab the attention of the reader. For example in Kiplinger's magazine their tag line is ' Money Smart Living: these words always appear next to the masthead and is clearly visible to the audience. The cursive font would stand out to any readers who would pick up my magazine and the phrase would certainty grab interest as well.
Not only that but the codes and conventions that usually categorize a magazine would be small little sub headings that could be scattered around the magazine that serve as a preview or short summary to what the magazine could be about. In my case I decided that three small sub headings that used the same font as my masthead or title so it could be easily read and understood. These sub headings were simple little grabbers that almost every magazine has just to keep the reader interested. I even added the page in which that section would be in which was inspired by Money Magazine since do the same thing with their subheadings. These were colored red to catch even more attention.
When creating my magazine I did encounter some problems. Many of them were minor but my biggest problem lied with the sky of the picture. My picture proved to be too small so i had to in large it in a way. So after spending hours searching on YouTube I realized that I could push the picture down and duplicate the area of the ky so it seemed that the sky was larger.
