spreading the wealth



    
      When creating my spread I waned to translate the many ideas that I used when designing my cover so I decided to maintain the same fonts as before, Because of this the main heading of my spread used the blush script font that can be compared to a type of cursive which conveys the idea of a fancy type of writing that is comparable to a some sort of extravagance. In addition to that i would made the font of the regular writing the font Franklin Gothic which is big and easy to use which was important because that is the main section that my readers would be drawn to. I decided that my spread would discuss real estate as that is a topic that interested me when i mentioned it in a previous blog post. Housing id a good business to start when looking in owning a luxurious house in the future. The tips found in my spread are the same tips that could be used by anyone when it comes to owning a house that has value and class, The pictures come from my photo shoot were taken using a long and establishing shot of various houses in the downtown Miami area.These pictures set up the type of housing that one day my readers could possible own and sale through the means of using some of the tips found in my spread. Since the houses tend to be quite large and wide thus needing a long shot to capture it.
     When researching magazine I turned to the Kiplinger and Money magazine editions to see what techniques those magazines used in the spreads. Methods and designs that stood out to me was when each individual brand used two pictures and ran them across two pages almost creating a strip of pictures. As i sad before the pictures i took for my spread are very long shots of mansion looking houses so I immediately thought that style would complement my spread. The evidence for this lies behind the spread Kiplinger did named "The Best Online Brokers" in that edition you can see the same style being used. Money Magazine also used the same style.for onr of their spreads. When creating my plans for my spread i had a completely different idea because originally I thought of just using a traditional style of just a picture and text but I realized that creating my spread that way would not suit the pictures well. Also that style would of been very generic and dull.
       The creation pf my spread was very simple as i just carried over the many techniques that O had learn when working on Photoshop and Indesign. So my spread only took about an hour or two to complete, I already knew which fonts I wanted to use and the layout of the pictures, how big they were going to be and which exact pictures I would use. The experience creating the spread was much more enjoyable than creating my cover. The info within the text was information that I had read on certain magazines and websites about real estate investing. With all of this in mind, that was part of the process of creating my spread.

 In the creative process of designing the table of contents I heavily relied on Kiplinger's magazine and how they would design their table of contents. For the most part, Kiplinger magazine has a very minimalist designing method. They use a blank white background and generally only include one picture in the contents. To add color some of the sub headings are marked with a different color. In addition their table of contents only spawn one page. With all of this being said, it can be concluded that kiplinger has a relativity simple structure. Since my magazine "Financial Affairs" draws heavy influence from kiplinger in many aspects it would only make the sense to have similar, but not the same, type of table of contents.
