Table of Contents

In the creative process of designing the table of contents I heavily relied on Kiplinger's magazine and how they would design their table of contents. For the most part, Kiplinger magazine has a very minimalist designing method. They use a blank white background and generally only include one picture in the contents. To add color some of the sub headings are marked with a different color. In addition their table of contents only spawn one page. With all of this being said, it can be concluded that kiplinger has a relativity simple structure. Since my magazine "Financial Affairs" draws heavy influence from kiplinger in many aspects it would only make the sense to have similar, but not the same, type of table of contents.
Example of Kiplinger's table of contents

One of the main aspects of creating a table of contents like this would be the section of a photograph that can sell my magazine. All of the pictures that Kiplinger used were picture that stood out with bright colors. For example, in the image above, the bright blue sky catches the eye of any reader. in the case of my magazine I had to alter my picture. The original picture was a fancy hotel named the Biltmore Hotel where a night could cost more than 400 dollars. The original picture was quite bland and lacked serious color so in order to correct this i increased the saturation of the picture by 60 percent this allowed the colors to pop more.
. .

Other techniques worth mentioning in regards to the picture would be the fact that i had to crop most of it due to the unwanted centenary that includes the cars that only take away from the beautiful hotel.
My table of contents used two different font, the same two fonts that are used throughout my magazine. Brush script for the word "contents" and Franklin Gothic Medium for every other word used. The reason for using The brush script was to add my own touch to my magazine and it was away to differentiate between my table of contents and Kiplinger's table of contents. the Franklin Gothic Font was used because for one it caught my eye as a font that stood out and is easy to be read for the reader. The colors foe the sub heading was taken from kiplinger and its purpose was to serve add a small touch of color to an already bland and white back ground. everything discussed here mentioned all the essential parts of my table of contents.
